Polestar will soon join Tesla with a shop inside a major shopping mall in Melbourne.
Chadstone Shopping Center In southeast Melbourne it will soon be home to electric vehicle specialist Polestar, with a storefront in the same Tesla complex.
Polestar – owned by China’s Geely Group, which also owns Volvo and Lotus – has announced that it will open a “Polestar Space” at the end of this year, with a deadline to be confirmed.
While the new Chadstone store isn’t Polestar’s first retail location – with locations in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Hobart – it is the brand’s first permanent ‘space’ in Australia.
Although located in the shopping center, potential buyers will be able to take Polestar vehicles for a test drive in the local area.
The Swedish electric car brand joins rival Tesla in Chadstone, Australia’s largest and said to be the second largest in the Southern Hemisphere.
As with Tesla, Polestar only sells cars at fixed, non-negotiable prices, with customers encouraged to buy directly from the company’s website.
Polestar says the retail outlet will be open seven days a week, with a future opening date announced.
